“You need permission” or the wrong account opens
With several Google accounts signed in, Docs often opens a file with another one. Switch account at the top right, or use a private window with only the account the file was shared with.
“Trying to connect…” and changes that won’t save
Docs lost its connection to Google. Keep the tab open until it says the document is saved, and turn on offline access in Google Drive’s settings if you often work on a weak connection.
Can’t create new files
