2xx Success

HTTP 202 Accepted

The request was accepted for processing, but the processing hasn’t finished and may still fail. It is used for work that is queued, such as exports and batch jobs. HTTP has no way to tell the client the outcome later, so the response usually links to somewhere the client can check the job’s status.

Defined in RFC 9110, section 15.3.3(opens in a new tab)

Is 202 up or down for a monitor?

Uptimecheck HTTP monitor

Default settings

Up

Up. By default an Uptimecheck HTTP monitor accepts 200–399 as up, so a 202 counts as up. With a keyword check, the page must also contain the word you set.

Up

Up: the checker counts any answer below 500 as the site answering.

Why you see 202 and what to do

Typical causes

  • An API that queues work instead of doing it while the client waits.

If you run the site

  • Return a link to a status resource the client can poll, and say when to check again.

If you’re a visitor

  • Your request is queued; the result comes later, often by email or on another page.

Know the moment your site stops answering as it should

An Uptimecheck monitor requests your page as often as every minute, checks the status code against the ones you expect, confirms a failure with a second check and then alerts you.
