2xx Success
HTTP 208 Already Reported
Used inside a WebDAV 207 Multi-Status body to say that the members of a collection were already listed earlier in the same response, so they aren’t listed again. It avoids endless repetition when one collection is reachable through several bindings.
Defined in RFC 5842, section 7.1(opens in a new tab)
//_01 Uptime checks
Is 208 up or down for a monitor?
Uptimecheck HTTP monitor
Default settings
Up. By default an Uptimecheck HTTP monitor accepts 200–399 as up, so a 208 counts as up. With a keyword check, the page must also contain the word you set.

Up: the checker counts any answer below 500 as the site answering.
//_02 Causes and fixes
Why you see 208 and what to do
Typical causes
- A WebDAV server listing a folder structure where the same collection appears more than once.
If you run the site
- Nothing to fix.
If you’re a visitor
- You won’t see it in a browser.
Know the moment your site stops answering as it should
An Uptimecheck monitor requests your page as often as every minute, checks the status code against the ones you expect, confirms a failure with a second check and then alerts you.
