“Something went wrong” or “Network error” in the middle of an answer
Long answers fail most often on a weak or switching connection. Reload the page and ask ChatGPT to continue, or regenerate the answer. If it happens in every chat and on another network too, look at the official status above.
A usage limit or “Too many requests” message
Every ChatGPT plan has limits per model and time window, and the message says when you can send again. That is a limit on your account, not an outage, so other people can use ChatGPT normally.
Stuck at login, or a blank page after signing in
Clear the cookies for chatgpt.com and openai.com or open a private window. Ad blockers, script blockers and some VPNs break the sign-in, so try once without them.
Voice mode, image generation or file uploads don’t work
Allow the browser or app to use the microphone, and check that the file is a supported type and size. When one feature fails for everyone, OpenAI’s status page usually lists it as a degraded component.
