Uptime alerts in Mattermost

Alerts in a Mattermost channel on your own server, posted through an incoming webhook with a colored bar for each state.

14-day free trial · No credit card required

What you get

  • Works with your own server

Any Mattermost server that answers over HTTPS: paste the incoming webhook URL, which ends with /hooks/ and a code.

  • A color bar for each state

Alerts are posted as Uptimecheck with a red, green or amber bar, the address, what happened and a link to the incident.

  • Only confirmed outages

A failed check is repeated before an incident opens, so a single blip never sends an alert.

  • More than up and down

Slow responses, certificate and domain expiry reminders, DNS changes, server restarts, new broken links and page speed drops arrive in the same place.

How to connect Mattermost

  1. In Mattermost, go to Integrations › Incoming webhooks › Add incoming webhook, pick a channel and copy the URL.

  2. Open Alert channels in the sidebar and choose Add channel.

  3. Pick Mattermost and paste the URL into Mattermost webhook URL.

  4. Choose Add channel, then Send test.

Included on every plan, from Start to Business.

What arrives

  • Outages, once a second check confirms them
  • Recoveries, with how long the monitor was down
  • Slow responses, and when they are fast again
  • TLS certificate and domain expiry reminders
  • DNS record changes and server restarts
  • New broken links, mixed content and page speed drops
  • New problems with a domain’s email setup
  • A test alert whenever you choose Send test

Questions

Does it work with a self-hosted Mattermost?

Yes, as long as the server answers over HTTPS from the internet. Uptimecheck doesn’t send alerts to addresses on private networks.

Why is my webhook URL refused?

The address must start with https:// and end with /hooks/ followed by the webhook’s code, exactly as Mattermost shows it.

What if an alert can’t be delivered?

Uptimecheck retries a failed alert five times over about 40 minutes, and stops at once when the service says the address is gone for good. The channel then shows Not delivering with the reason, on the alert channels page and on the monitors that use it. A passing Send test clears it.

Is it included on every plan?

Yes. Every alert channel is on every plan, from Start to Business; SMS uses credits (included on Professional and Business, bought packs on Start). Plans differ in how many alert channels you can add: 25 on Start, 75 on Professional and 250 on Business.

Downtime is obsolete.

Set up your first monitor in under a minute, or look around the live demo first.
