Uptime alerts with ntfy

Push alerts to the ntfy app on your phone or desktop, from ntfy.sh or your own ntfy server.

14-day free trial · No credit card required

What you get

  • Urgent when it matters

Outages arrive at the highest priority with a siren tag, recoveries at default priority and warnings in between.

  • Your own server

Use ntfy.sh or run ntfy yourself, with an access token for protected topics.

  • Tap to open

A tap on the notification opens the incident or the monitor in Uptimecheck.

  • Only confirmed outages

A failed check is repeated before an incident opens, so a single blip never sends an alert.

How to connect ntfy

  1. Pick a topic name that is hard to guess and subscribe to it in the ntfy app.

  2. Open Alert channels in the sidebar and choose Add channel.

  3. Pick ntfy and enter the Topic address, such as https://ntfy.sh/northwind-alerts-7f3k. For a protected topic, add an Access token.

  4. Choose Add channel, then Send test.

Included on every plan, from Start to Business.

What arrives

  • TLS certificate and domain expiry reminders
  • DNS record changes and server restarts
  • New broken links, mixed content and page speed drops

Questions

Is a topic on ntfy.sh private?

No. On ntfy.sh anyone who knows a topic’s name can read it, so pick a name that is hard to guess, or run your own server and protect the topic with an access token.

Can I use a self-hosted ntfy server?

Yes. Enter the topic’s address on your server, which must answer over HTTPS, and the access token if the topic is protected.

What does the notification say?

The title says what happened, such as “Checkout is down”, and the message has the address, the cause, where it was confirmed and since when.

What if an alert can’t be delivered?

Uptimecheck retries a failed alert five times over about 40 minutes, and stops at once when the service says the address is gone for good. The channel then shows Not delivering with the reason, on the alert channels page and on the monitors that use it. A passing Send test clears it.

Is it included on every plan?

Yes. Every alert channel is on every plan, from Start to Business; SMS uses credits (included on Professional and Business, bought packs on Start). Plans differ in how many alert channels you can add: 25 on Start, 75 on Professional and 250 on Business.

Downtime is obsolete.

Set up your first monitor in under a minute, or look around the live demo first.
