How to finish setting up your workspace

Updated November 2, 2026 2 min read

After you sign up, Uptimecheck walks you through four short steps: Workspace, First check, Alerts and Status page. You can skip any of them. Your progress is saved with the workspace, so you can leave and pick up where you left off, on any device.

The four steps

  1. Workspace: enter a Website to watch and a Workspace name, then choose Start monitoring. The website is checked every minute. Leave the website empty and the button says Create workspace; with a website entered, Skip, I’ll add monitors later creates the workspace without it. Either way, without a website you go to Overview.
  2. First check: the page shows which of our locations the check runs from and the result as it arrives: the status, the response time split into its phases, and the SSL certificate’s days left. If the check fails, it shows the error and says that you are only alerted when a second check fails too. Continue without waiting moves on.
  3. Alerts: your workspace starts with an email channel to the address you signed up with. Choose Send yourself a test alert to see exactly what an alert looks like; it should arrive within a minute. Slack, Teams, SMS and other channels are added under Alert channels.
  4. Status page: optional. Enter a Page title and choose Publish status page to show your monitors on a public page, or choose Not now.

Pick up where you left off

  • Once you have a monitor, the Get set up card on Overview shows Continue setup until every step is done or skipped. It opens the first step you haven’t finished.
  • The same card lists what is worth doing next: add a monitor, send yourself a test alert, connect Slack, Teams, SMS or another channel, publish a status page and invite your colleagues. Hide removes it in that browser.
  • Skipped the website at the start? Enter one in the field on the empty Overview, and setup continues with its first check.
  • Once the workspace exists, you can leave setup at any point: choose the Uptimecheck logo at the top to go to Overview.

Coming from uptimecheck.com

Links such as Get alerted on an Is it down? page, or Monitor this in our free tools, carry what you wanted to watch. The sign-up page then says “After sign-up we start watching …”, and setup starts with it. If you already have a workspace, the link opens New monitor with the address filled in instead.

Next: add more monitors, add alert channels or set up your status page.
