How to set up webhook alerts

A webhook handler sends a POST request to a URL you choose each time a monitor goes down or comes back up. Use it to feed an on-call tool, an automation platform or your own system.

Create the webhook handler

1. Open Notification handlers and choose Create notification handler.
2. Give it a name and pick Webhook as the type.
3. Enter the webhook URL that should receive the POST calls.
4. Use Test integration to send a test call, then choose Create.
5. Tick the handler under Notifications on the monitors that should use it.

Tips

• Use HTTPS and a hard-to-guess URL, since anyone with the URL can post to it.
• Answer quickly with a 2xx status and do slow work afterwards.
• Log the first test call to see the exact fields before you build on them.
