Uptime alerts in Microsoft Teams

Outages, recoveries and warnings as cards in a Teams channel, posted through a channel workflow that receives webhook requests.

What you get

  • Cards that read at a glance

Each alert is a card: the headline in red, green or amber, the monitored address, what happened and an Open in Uptimecheck button.

  • Nothing to install

A workflow in the channel receives the alerts and posts them, so no app has to be added to your Teams.

  • Only confirmed outages

A failed check is repeated before an incident opens, so a single blip never sends an alert.

  • Recovery with the downtime

When checks pass again, a recovery follows in the same place with how long the monitor was down.

How to connect Microsoft Teams

  1. In Teams, open the channel’s Workflows, pick “Post to a channel when a webhook request is received” and copy the URL it gives you.

  2. Open Alert channels in the sidebar and choose Add channel.

  3. Pick Teams and paste the URL into Teams Workflows URL.

  4. Choose Add channel, then Send test.

Teams admins can limit who may create workflows. If you can’t, ask your Microsoft 365 admin.

Included on every plan, from Start to Business.

Questions

Which Teams URL do I paste?

The URL of a Teams workflow made from the “Post to a channel when a webhook request is received” template. It is an https address on logic.azure.com, powerautomate.com, powerplatform.com or webhook.office.com, and Uptimecheck checks it before saving.

Can I acknowledge an incident from Teams?

No. The Open in Uptimecheck button on an outage alert opens the incident, where you acknowledge it with one click. Acknowledging from the chat itself works in Slack.

I’m not allowed to create a workflow. What now?

Teams admins can limit who may create workflows, so ask your Microsoft 365 admin. Meanwhile, send alerts by email or as push notifications to your phone.

What if an alert can’t be delivered?

Uptimecheck retries a failed alert five times over about 40 minutes, and stops at once when the service says the address is gone for good. The channel then shows Not delivering with the reason, on the alert channels page and on the monitors that use it. A passing Send test clears it.

Can our status page subscribers follow it here too?

Yes. Visitors of an Uptimecheck status page can follow it in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord or by webhook, for the whole page or only the components they choose, and get your status updates there.

Is it included on every plan?

Yes. Every alert channel is on every plan, from Start to Business; SMS uses credits (included on Professional and Business, bought packs on Start). Plans differ in how many alert channels you can add: 25 on Start, 75 on Professional and 250 on Business.

Downtime is obsolete.

Set up your first monitor in under a minute, or look around the live demo first.
