How to connect an AI assistant with MCP

Updated October 16, 2026 1 min read

The MCP server lets AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor and Copilot work with Uptimecheck using an API key, on Professional and Business. Ask “is everything up?”, “why was checkout slow last night?” or “pause the shop while I deploy”.

Connect an assistant

  1. Create an API key under Settings, API. Read only lets the assistant look. Read & write also lets it create and pause monitors, acknowledge incidents, start maintenance and post status updates.
  2. On the same tab, under Connect an AI assistant (MCP), pick Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code and copy the setup.
  3. Replace uc_your_api_key with your key.

For Claude Code it is one command in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http uptimecheck https://app.uptimecheck.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer uc_your_api_key"

Good to know

  • The server URL is https://app.uptimecheck.com/api/mcp.
  • Give the assistant a read-only key if it only needs to look.
  • Revoke the key under Settings, API, and the assistant loses access right away.
